Back from the Dead

(Please excuse the soaked neck/chest area and scraggly hair..)

We are alive, I promise!! We've just all been sick this past week and now recovering and back from the dead. The week before last I went in and got Perri in the morning and as I walked into her room, got a whiff of something not-so-sweet. I walked over to her crib and there was Perri, laying down, happy as can be, but covered head to toe in red throw up, as was her entire crib, bumpers and sheet. Needless to say, she went straight to the tub and the sheets and bumper covers went in the wash. (The red was from something she ate the day before with tomato). I wish I would've gotten a picture of it but it was so disgusting and Perri was completely covered in it so I didn't have time to run grab my camera. She must have done it in her sleep because she never cried out or fussed in the night. After her bath I went down and nursed her then sat her in her high chair to feed her her breakfast. Then she threw up again. And again. But, she was acting totally fine and didn't have a fever so I was baffled. I went ahead and called the doctor and they suggested that we come in since we were planning on going to Arkansas the next day. We went in and they said it must just be a stomach bug and there wasn't much to do. Big waste, I know, but I was just being on the safe side. You would've never known she was sick because she had the best time in the waiting room playing with toys and trying to climb in the blinds.

Since she was acting fine and didn't throw up anymore, we decided to head on to Arkansas. We made it there fine and then that night I woke up in the night feeling awful. Thankfully mom had some medicine that knocked me out until the nausea passed. Mine lasted a few days and just when I started feeling better, my mom and dad both got what we had, but much much worse. Then, Craig came on Wednesday and by Saturday he was super sick as well and is just now starting to feel better.

So, that is my excuse for a lack of blogging and updating more on little girl.

But now that she is well, she is keeping me on my toes and is into EVERYTHING and when I get onto her for getting into something that she shouldn't be into, she takes off as fast as she can, cracking up the whole way. It's pretty funny but not so funny that she thinks its hilarious to get in trouble.

Checking out what's in the bins in her room.

She has also discovered the stairs. Baby gate shopping is on the agenda for the weekend.

Off she goes

Tackling the first step.

This isn't so hard!

Piece of cake!!

Anyone have any suggestions on baby gates? I have been looking into them but we really don't want to have to screw a baby gate into the stairs but the ones available that don't bolt to the banister are limited. And I can't seem to find any that don't bolt and get good reviews.. annoying.

And anyone have suggestions on dealing with separation issues? No, not for me, but Perri haha. She loses it when I leave the room or someone takes her from me and going to the gym is proving difficult as she does not want to be left and some days will cry the whole time I am working out and they end up getting me, only for her to turn into a happy, smiley little girl as soon as I go get her. I understand it is normal, especially since I stay at home with her, but does anyone have any suggestions on working on this? Thanks in advance, we need it!!

Glad to see you posting again..sorry to hear about the sickness. On the baby gates, Matt and I have one of the ones that just adjusts and locks into place. We use it to block off the opening for the laundry room and it works great. I don't know if it would be the same on stairs or not.?? On the separation anxiety, Lilly just kind of got over hers but I've never tried to leave her with someone she doesn't know--she would probably freak out, too. Sorry for the lack of advice on that. She just keeps getting cuter!

I think the only thing you can do for the separation anxiety is to leave her more often and for smaller stints. Like 10 minutes, then 30, then an hour... working up to the point where you can be gone for a while. I think most kids just want to make sure that you are coming back. Ross has recently acquired separation anxiety and he is 4 almost 5... freaks every time he turns around and I am out of sight in the house... thinks I have left him. What a goof.

As for the gate... good luck. We never found one we liked... sigh.

Glad to hear you guys are feeling better. The crud hit us here last week ... I think Owen brought it home from school. I do feel your pain on the "vomit all over the bed" thing. Ky is STILL the world's worst... it comes from both ends pretty much every night. (thanks you stupid g-tube...)

I agree! They should just give us all the tickets for the box and then we can invite everyone! I think little Perri would love it. :)

I am so sorry you all have been sick. That is no fun. I've been trying to avoid it because everyone at work is already getting the flu! Eeek!

Ryan needs to meet Perri! She is so stinkin' adorable trying to climb those stairs. :) Hope you have a great week.

She is such a cutie!! I'm sorry about the throw up and sickies..yuck!

We have baby gates all over because we live in a split level house. We just bought the kind that you can easily pull up and collapse. They've worked really well for both of our girls.
